BSF organizes series of events to mark 50 years of India’s historic victory in 1971 War

The Border Security Force (BSF) is organizing a series of events to mark 50 years of India’s historic victory in the 1971 War leading to the liberation of Bangladesh and the Indo-Bangladesh friendship.

In one such initiative, a joint cultural programme with Bangladesh was organised by the BSF at the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Agartala in Tripura on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Tripura Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury highlighted the contribution made by BSF in liberation of Bangladesh in the Indo-Pak 1971 war. He also recalled the important role played by the people of Tripura in the Bangladesh liberation war due the State’s geo-strategic location. BSF officials said, such friendly events enhance co-operation and goodwill between the two countries.

During the event, the veterans of the 1971 war were felicitated and cultural troupes from India and Bangladesh gave dance performances on different themes relating to Bangladesh Liberation War, Conservation of Environment and others.
