Members of the Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) staged a protest at Gate No. 2 of the university campus to pressure the Punjab Government to resolve the long-pending issues of the university and college teachers.
Teachers have been observing complete ‘Education Bandh’ since December 1 and boycotting teaching, exams, research and other academic activities.
PUTA secretary Prof AS Naura said they were planning to approach AICC president Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi and PPCC president Navjot Singh Sidhu and submit a petition on their demands after running a signature campaign on the campus.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the District Council of Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers Union was held at DAV College, Sector 10, regarding the ongoing protests in Punjab and Chandigarh against the Punjab Government for its failure to implement the UGC 7th Pay Commission.
