Chandigarh, December 10

Former city BJP president Sanjay Tandon today slammed the Congress over its “chargesheet.” Addressing a press conference, he alleged that “The Congress’s tenure in the Chandigarh MC will always be remembered for a series of scams and scandals ranging from rail, booth and clothes theft. The Congress is in quarantine for the past six years and is trying to recover from it in these elections. People are preparing to send them to quarantine again.”

While countering the “chargesheet” filed against the BJP, Tandon said the Congress had not only indulged in scams during its 14-year tenure, while the BJP gave impetus to development in the city.

He said when the entire country was facing the problem of oxygen, Chandigarh was not only self-sufficient in this area, but also the needs of neighbouring states were fulfilled by the city.

Tandon, while taking BJP’s side on the issue of pollution, said an oxygen purifier had been installed at the Transport Chowk to keep the city’s air clean and all this happened during the BJP’s tenure. Greenery in the city had increased from 38 to 46 per cent. He said Chandigarh did not need the Delhi model, but Delhi need the Chandigarh model. — TNS
