India reports 7,992 Covid-19 cases and 393 deaths; active cases decline to 93,277

NEW DELHI: India reported 7,992 new Covid-19 cases n the last 24 hours taking the country's tally up to 3,46,682,736, the health ministry said in an official release on Saturday.
The single-day spike in deaths was recorded at 393. With this, the death toll has mounted to 4,75,128.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been recorded below 15,000 for the last 44 days now.
Active cases have decreased to 93,277, comprising 0.27 per cent of the total infections, the lowest in 559 days.

As decrease of 1,666 cases has been recorded in the active case count in the last 24 hours.
While the national Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.36 per cent, the highest since March last year, the health ministry stated.
The daily positivity rate has been less than 2% for the last 68 days and was recorded at 0.64 per cent.

The weekly positivity rate has been recorded at 0.71 per cent for the last 27 days, according to the ministry.
India's recoveries have surged to 3,41,14,331, with 9,265 recoveries being recorded in the last 24 hours.
Vaccination update:
The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the Covid-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 131.99 crore.
India crossed two crore Covid-19 cases on May 4 and three crore cases on June 23.
