I just had my blood work done and these are the results:
My doctor says my blood test is normal but an a1c of 5.7 is considered borderline prediabetic in America. In Canada it's 6 for some reason.
My a1c was 5.4 from 2015-2017. It was 5.6 in 2019, and now as it says, it is 5.7. I haven't been eating too unhealthy, but I have been basically eating whatever I want this entire time, with no specific diet. I used to exercise more and I was 212 at 6 ft. Now I haven't been doing that much physical activity because of a health condition and I'm about 5 lbs heavier with a 41.5 inch waist. As for my triglycerides, it's higher than ever, even though I thought I ate less carbs than I did before.
Should I just go on a keto diet from now on, and basically avoid even fruits like apples, bananas etc?

Whether you call it prediabetes or not doesn't really change anything. For health purposes you need to lose fat and also start exercising more unless your health condition prevents you from doing so in any capacity. I would not avoid fruits, those are very health-promoting, unless keto is the only way you will be able to lose weight.

A1C, like most tests, is not a binary. It only guides diagnosis. The reference range is based on the specific patient population. In Asia, the cutoff will be something else.
That's all I needed to know. You're pre- a lot of things. Get this down to at least 35in (another arbitrary threshold).Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?
