LogMeIn's password manager LastPass now supports federated login with Google Workspace.
The LastPass update means Google Workspace joins ADFS, Azure AD and Okta as ways of allowing users to unlock their LastPass vault by logging into an external identity provider. This improves security for businesses while simplifying the login process for users.
LastPass's Google directory integration also makes it possible to automatically provision LastPass accounts for employees.
According to LastPass officials, the benefits of federated login include additional security without complexity, simplified user access, elimination of additional passwords, increased adoption, automated identity management, and fast and easy set-up.
"LastPass is the leading password manager on the market, providing this level of security authentication for federated login integrations with identity providers," said LogMeIn vice president of product management Dan DeMichele.
"Between this new integration with Google Workspace, and the combination of zero-knowledge infrastructure and multi-key approach, this security model that is unique to LastPass offers a level of security uncommon with such a simple login experience. This ensures the keys used to unlock a user's vault only reunite locally on the end-user's device."
