Total shutdown plan suspended

Kangpokpi, December 08 2021: The 48-hour total shutdown which was scheduled to take place from midnight of December 7 in connection with the issue of Asian Highway expansion has been suspended.
According to Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association, the decision to suspend the proposed total shutdown was taken along with its confederating units late Tuesday night after talked began with the government.
The association had decided to impose a 48-hour total shutdown in connection with the issue of land and its acquisition by the government with regard to the expansion of Asian Highway-1.But SAHILCA and its con-' federating units decided to suspend its decision to shut down Kangpokpi district as talks have begun and the government promised to resolve the issue at the earliest, the Sadar Hills chiefs' body said.
It further said that a humble appeal from Thadou Baptist Association India and KBC Men Society was also considered as TBA-I will celebrate its Golden Jubilee at Motbung model village and KBC Men Society will hold an important assembly at Moreh.
However, if the government remains indifferent and fails to come up with an acceptable solution to the issue, the suspended agitation will be resumed immediately and "we will not remain silent," the association added.
