Many condemn killing of civilians at Oting village, Nagaland

Senapati, December 08 2021: Outer Manipur (ST) Member of Parliament, Dr Lorho S Pfoze and PHE Minister, L Dikho have condemned the killing of innocent Nagas by Assam Rifles at Oting village in Mon district on the evening of December 4 .
L Dikho expressed his grief over the tragic incident and stated that words cannot describe the agony and pain the Konyak community, especially the bereaved families are going through.
"Such acts of insanity and heinous crime on the pretext of military operation by security forces inflicted upon poor villagers who were returning from their work on the fateful day is unacceptable and inhuman in any term'', he asserted.
While extending his condolence to the bereaved families, the Minister demanded justice for the deceased & injured and to punish the perpetrators as per the law of the land.
Meanwhile, Dr Lorho S Pfoze vehemently condemned the killing of civilians in Oting, Nagaland and extended his solidarity with the people and Konyak community in particular.
He also expressed his condolence to the bereaved families and shared their pain and grief.
In regards to Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 (AFSPA), the MP said, "AFSPA has far-reaching consequences, more than what is read or known.
It is often used as immunity for the armed forces to unquestionably terrorize the citizens".
The MP further appealed to the Government of India to repeal AFSPA, 1958 and stated that the Act has pulled the image of Indian democracy to its lowest ebbs.
