Inter village boundary dispute resolved

Ukhrul, December 08 2021: The inter village boundary dispute between Jessami and Meluri of Nagaland State has been amicably resolved with both villages agreeing to respect and honor the boundary demarcated by the appointed committee of two villages for permanent settlement.
A press statement jointly signed by Anizote Mekhrisuhm, chairman Jessami Village Council and Tsishutho Pochury, chairman Meluri Village Council informed that the committee has resolved to honor and accept the erected 15 permanent boundary pillars that were corrected by using GPS mapping, several surveys and spot verification by representatives from both villages for prevailing peaceful coexistence.
The final land settlement was executed at JVC hall, Jessami village, Ukhrul in the presence of all representatives as witnesses including the two village chairmen, who appended their consent to abide by the agreed resolution.
15 boundary pillars were erected as per agreed position, starting from above the confluence point of Lanyi river and Tizu river on north eastern side directing towards Khuchikelhimelu (Jessami/Chuprarunguo, Meluri) passing the ridge at Yessamilu until the last boundary pillar No 15, straight downward to Thetsu/Jiji river located in wet paddy field of the area.
Whereas, a small portion of wet paddy field (Rijoru) cultivated by the villagers of Meluri, which falls within the demarcation of Jessami village would remain unaltered but shall continue to cultivate by Meluri without any objection.
It might be mentioned that Jessami village is located at the extreme northern border of Manipur that shares a boundary with adjacent village Meluri of Nagaland.
