Khulna police have found the proof of rape of a mother before her daughter by Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP)'s detective branch sub-inspector Md Jahangir Alam at a residential hotel.
A probe body was also formed to investigate the case. At the same time, SI Jahangir was suspended on Thursday.
The medical test of the victim of rape was conducted at a hospital in Khulna city at the directive of court.
Besides, the court recorded the statement of the daughter of the victim who was an eyewitness of the incident.
Khulna Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Hasan Al Mamun said they visited Hotel Sundarban on Thursday morning and talked to the hotel owner and employees.
Besides, they talked to the rape victim.
After talking with all the concerned, proof of rape was found against SI Jahangir.
He further said the 11-year-old daughter of the women was taken to the Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate's court on Thursday morning. The court recorded her statement. The KMP formed a one-member probe body with Khalispur Zone's assistant police commissioner Humayun Kabir as the head to investigate the allegation of rape against Jahangir.
SI Jahangir was suspended on Thursday. Preparation was going on to file a departmental case against him.
Head of the probe body and assistant police commissioner Humayun Kabir said they have already initiated inquiry. The inquiry report will be submitted within two days.
It may be mentioned that a mother came to Khulna city on Tuesday afternoon for the treatment of her 11-year-old ailing daughter from Mongla in Bagerhat district. Her 26-year-old nephew also accompnied her. They got into the Room No. 13 of Hotel Sundarbans, adjacent to the city's Shahid Hadis Park.
At about 2:30am, Khulna Metropolitan Police's (KMP) sub-inspector Jahangir entered the room where mother and daughter were staying. Then he allegedly raped the mother in front of her ailing daughter. Hearing the screaming of the woman, the hotel manager rushed to the room where hotel employees confined the sub-inspector. Then the manager informed the senior officials of the detective branch of police and Khulna Police Station seeking help.
Later, police from Khulna Sadar Police Station went to the hotel and took SI Jahangir to the police station..
OC Hasan Ali said being the plaintiff, the woman filed a rape case at Khulna Sadar Police Station under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at 4 o'clock at night.
On Wednesday, SI Jahangir was sent to jail by a court. The woman was sent to the One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) for medical test.
Jahangir, is the son of Md Atiar Rahman, of village Bishnupur under Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga district.
KMP's Detective Branch's deputy commissioner BM Nuruzzaman claimed that SI Jahangir was drunkard during the rape incident.
