IAF has ordered a tri-service inquiry into military chopper crash: Defence Minister

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, addressing the Parliament on General Bipin Rawat's chopper crash, said that all efforts being made to save Group Captain Varun Singh who is on life support, reported NDTV.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in the Lok Sabha today that the Indian Air Force (IAF) has ordered a tri-service inquiry into the military chopper crash, reported ANI. The investigation will be led by Air Marshal Manavendra Singh. The inquiry team reached Wellington yesterday itself and started the investigation.

The minister added that the last rites of CDS General Bipin Rawat and the other military personnel will be performed with appropriate military honour, reported ANI.

The Rajya Sabha also observed a two-minute silence on the demise of Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife, and other personnel in a military helicopter crash near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, reported ANI.
