Condemnation on killing of public at Oting

An emergency virtual meeting of the members from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland state units was held on 6th December, 2021 and observed a 1-minute silence in honour of 15 departed souls.
Yambem Arun Meetei, Secretary General, WMC stated that World Meetei Council is deeply shocked and saddened on the inhuman action of Security Forces killing 15 innocent public at Oting village in Mon district of Nagaland on 4th and 5th December 2021.
The inhuman act during the festive month killing our innocent people of our region is condemned in the strongest term. Such an inhuman act that have increased the number of widows and orphans is permitted by AFSPA. Such law that allows the security forces to kill innocent public is not acceptable under any circumstances. Therefore, such licence to kill the public should be repealed immediately from the North Eastern Region.
The Council expressed its solidarity to the Konyak tribe as well as the people of Nagaland at this time of tragedy and stand firm with the people of Nagaland. We also convey our deep condolences to the bereaved families.
