Imphal, December 07 2021: Pointing out that 4,48,955 houses have been constructed under Prime Minister Awaj Yojana-Urban taken up by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs since its inception, Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Kaushal Kishore informed that 129 houses were constructed in the year 2021-2022 under the scheme.

The report was given by Kausal Kishore in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Monday.

According to the report, the year which has the highest number of construction under PMAY-U in Manipur is 2018-19 with 2,231 houses.

In 2015-2016, 42 houses were constructed, 24 houses were built in 2016-2017, 177 houses in 2017 2018, 649 houses in 2019-2020 and 1,660 houses in 2020-2021.The central government has sanctioned Rs 23.40 crore in 2016-2017, Rs 136.38 crore in 2017 2018, Rs 12.19 crore in 2018-2019, Rs 65.09 crore in 2019-2020, Rs 101.02 crore in 2020-2021 and Rs 0.05 crore in 2021-2022 for construction of houses under PMAY (U) in Manipur.

Moreover, the central government has incurred a total of Rs 3,222.50 crore in 2015-2016, Rs 4,597.68 crore in 2016-2017, 16,531.21 crore in 2017-2018, Rs 25, 071.35 crore in 2018-2019, Rs 19,755.44 crore in 2019.-2020, Rs 26,619 crore in 2020-2021 and Rs 6,654.35 crore in the year 2021-2022 for construction of houses under the scheme in states and union territories of the country.
