Imphal, December 07 2021: The Maichou Ningshing Lup, Khurai has urged the authorities concerned to stop the measures to construct Government quarters in a place located between Zone II and Zone III of National Games Village, Langol with immediate effect.

The above appeal was made during a press conference held today at Manipur Press Club today.

Speaking to media persons, advisor of Maichou Ningshing Lup, Sanasam Ibomcha stated that the location chosen for the construction of quarters by the PDA, Government of Manipur is an important sacred site.

Stating that the said location is a sacrosanct site of Semoinu Ima, daughter of Langol Lairembi Ima, the Lup will never agree to the construction of Government quarters at this place, he added.

He further maintained that it is really unfortunate that the Government authorities are trying to construct quarters on such a sacred site when strong measures are underway to preserve the significant and historic sacred sites of the State under the supervision of the Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

Lastly S Ibomcha warned of taking stringent form of democratic protests along with the support of CSOs if the work to construct quarters is not stopped immediately.
