Imphal, December 07 2021: Senjam Khunou & Senjam Chirang Joint Devel opment Organisation (SKSCJDO) has condemned the proposed 72-hours total shutdown of Joint Tribe Students' Association (JTSA) over the ownership of land of National Sports University (NSU).
In a statement, SKSCJDO general secretary Nongthonbam Rajen Singh contended that no solution would be possible if attempts to poison the relationship between different communities are not put to a stop.
It is not acceptable for Konsa village to suddenly claim ownership of the land proposed for NSU, considering that the land was bought by the forefathers of Senjam Khunou and Senjam Chirang, making it the true property of the Meetei.
"Konsa village should not make such ridiculous claim over the land as it will forever remain a stain in the pages of history which would never be forgiven by the future generations.
It would be better to work hard to live in harmony instead of using muscle power to forcefully take over the land.
If this is the case, it would be only right to contest the issue in the Court and the people would appreciate Konsa village for acting rationally and respecting the Rule of Law.
"The BJP government should also refrain from making any compromise in any form on the land ownership of NSU including nomenclature.
If it decides to compromise, it should be ready to face the anger of the people.
In addition, other than Konsa village, no other body including JTSA should interfere in the matter.
"The proposed site for NSU truly belongs to the three villages of Senjam Chirang, Senjam Khunou and Koutruk.
As such, it is reminded to all concerned not to try and interfere in the matter," the Organisation stated and appealed to JTSA to withdraw its call for total shutdown, as they are not related to the matter.
If JTSA plans to go ahead with the total shutdown, then SKSCJDO will also impose a counter total shutdown.
Any consequences resulting from the same will be the responsibility of Konsa village, JTSA and the ruling government.
"The proposed land for NSU has been passed down from our forefathers and is meant for all of us.
Anyone trying to interfere in the matter using muscle power will be awarded with an equal action against them," it affirmed and appealed to the government to consider the matter seriously.
