One of the MPs who attended the meeting told The indian Express: “He (Prime minister Modi) reminded us of what he had repeatedly told us about attending parliamentary proceedings without fail.

Also, he said it is not as beautiful to tell MPs as it is to tell children. The prime minister then said that if we do not change ourselves, changes will take place in due course.

Prime minister Modi, on several occasions in the past, has been urging his party MPs to attend parliament regularly.

"Some of us take it as a warning that the party will be serious about visiting our parliament, which will determine our future," the mp said.

Ahead of prime minister Modi's speech, Parliamentary Affairs minister Prakalat Joshi explained at the meeting about the activities that took place last week and noted that sometimes attendance was an issue.

According to sources, Joshi said the MPs had to be called at least twice as there was not enough number in the assembly.

Modi's warning comes as opposition parties continue to fight the suspension of 12 MPs from the state assembly, where the bjp does not yet have a majority. While the Lok Sabha, which has a large majority for the ruling party, is functioning normally, the state assembly has been repeatedly adjourned several times due to heavy rains.

Instead of attending the kasi Viswanath route inauguration on december 13, prime minister Modi asked bjp MPs to come to them. The prime minister is scheduled to open the corridor at a ceremony in Varanasi.

At the meeting, the prime minister asked bjp MPs to organize programs in their respective constituencies to honor the Padma Award recipients.
