Health Ministry on December 6 released the data of the last 24 hour reports of Covid 19. Total 8306 new cases of coronavirus and 211 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours in India. After the new report, currently, active cases stands at 98,416 which is lowest in last 552 days. Now, the death toll rises to 4,73,537 and the total confirmed cases reached 3,46,41,561.
In India, a total of 21 confirmed Omicron cases have been reported so far from different states including 1 case from Delhi and 9 from Maharashtra. On December 5 alone, India recorded 17 new cases from Rajasthan, Delhi and Maharashtra.
The new variant of coronavirus was first detected on November 12 in South Africa and it has already spread to more than 36 countries and India is no exception. After the major breakout of the new variant Omicron, many countries including India restricted their international flights and revised their guidelines for international arrivals.

Most of the cases reported for the Omicron variant, have been fully vaccinated and are probably not showing any mild symptoms. The 37-year-old man who returned from Tanzania was found positive to Omicron, is fully vaccinated, while people who found positive to Omicron in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, 7 of them were fully vaccinated.
Now, the main concerns are whether the vaccine works or not on this new variant Omicron? The scientists are still trying to figure out how to tackle the new variant Omicron.
However, the health ministry has urged everyone who has not taken the vaccine to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Health Ministry on December 4 also announced that there might be a booster dose for the fully vaccinated people and a vaccine for children above 6 years might be available soon.
