Singapore reports 552 new Covid-19 cases
Singapore has reported 552 new cases of Covid-19, the Ministry of Health said in a press release. Of the new cases, 523 were in the community, 14 were in migrant worker dormitories and 15 were imported cases, bringing the total tally in the country till Sunday to 269,211, Xinhua news agency reported.
Britain, Denmark report rise in known Omicron cases
Britain and Denmark each reported a rise in confirmed coronavirus cases of the new omicron variant Sunday as countries with robust testing uncover more known instances of the variant in their backyards. There were 86 new cases of the omicron variant, Britain’s health security agency said Sunday, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 246 — nearly double the total number of cases reported Friday. In Denmark, local health authorities confirmed there were 183 known cases of the variant, more than triple the total number of suspected cases reported Friday, and called them “worrying.”
Cluster linked to family from South Africa worries Rajasthan government
Rajasthan health officials are worried about the cluster linked to the four-member family from South Africa. Chief medical health officer (Jaipur-I) Dr Narrottam Sharma said: “We have informed the Delhi health department about it.” A relative of the family was the first to test positive for Covid, followed by four other members of the household.
Russian tests positive in Kochi
The samples of a Russian national who arrived from Dubai and tested positive for Covid-19 have been sent for genome sequencing to confirm the presence of the Omicron variant. Authorities expect the result in two days. The 26-year-old tested positive for Covid during RT-PCR tests conducted on him on his arrival at the Cochin airport on Sunday morning
10 crore vax jabs given in last 15 days, says government
The latest 10 crore doses have been administered in 15 days, according to the Centre. Over 99 lakh shots were given on Saturday. The Covid vaccination programme was rolled out on January 16 with a focus on health and frontline workers

US administers 470.3 millin doses of Covid-19 vaccines: CDC
The United States had administered 470,297,846 doses of Covid-19 vaccines in the country as of Sunday morning and distributed 580,417,105 doses, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. The number of doses administered was up from 468,516,782 as reported on Saturday, the CDC said.

US Close to Having 200 Million People Fully Vaccinated
The United States was poised to soon surpass more than 200 million people fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 198 million people in the United States were fully vaccinated as of Saturday, accounting for almost 60% of the total population. More than 45 million had also received additional doses. On Tuesday, the agency’s director, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, said that although health officials were encouraging those eligible to get boosters, the agency was not changing its definition of fully vaccinated to include boosters “right now.”
