Hoshiarpur: The Garhdiwala police have booked a young woman for duping a resident of Rs one lakh on the pretext of arranging a government job for him. According to the information, Lovedeep Singh, a resident of Garhdiwala, complained to the SSP that Neena Rani promised a government job to a resident of Hussainpur. According to him, the accused took Rs 2 lakh allegedly from him for it but did not provide him the job. Later, she returned him Rs one lakh but the remaining amount of Rs one lakh was never returned. On the SSP’s orders, the police have registered a case against the accused. OC

Three booked for demanding dowry

Hoshiarpur: The Garhshankar police have registered a dowry harassment case against the victim’s husband, mother-in-law and her father-in-law. According to information, Lavita, a resident of Sadarpur, Garhshankar, has complained to the police that she got married to Gagandeep Singh, son of Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Diyala village, on October 1, 2020. According to her, after marriage, her husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law Manjinder Kaur allegedly harassed her, demanding more dowry. When she failed to do so,, the accused harassed her and threw her out of the house. The police have registered a case. OC
