PATNA: People cannot be compelled to sing the national song — Vande Mataram — if they don’t want to, JD(U) weighed in on Saturday following a controversy over the refusal of AIMIM legislators led by their legislature party leader Akhtarul Iman to sing it in the Bihar assembly the day before. Iman said no one could be forced to sing the song. It was seen as a rebuff with BJP calling it an “anti-national act”.
