Patna: Five passengers, who came from Omicron-affected countries of Africa, were tracked down Covid Sunday positive in Bihar’s Gopalganj district, and their samples were sent for genome testing.
The patients recently arrived in Gopalganj. As per the Covid protocol, the district administration conducted RT-PCR tests of these passengers and the reports came in positive.
After the development, the district administration sent them to an observation center in the district.
“The process of genome sequencing has now begun. They will soon undergo genome sequencing at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science (IGIMS). “Following the results, it will be clear whether they are infected with Omicron or not,” said a Gopalganj civil surgeon official.
“We have taken all precautions to check the passengers coming from other states. We are also in contact with the officials of the Civil Aviation and Health Department to get names of the passengers coming from other countries.
“Health department teams were deployed at the railway station and bus stalls to see if passengers were coming from other states,” he said.
