Manu Feildel hits the Sing 2 red carpet with his family - after admitting he's 'sad' that controversial chef Pete Evans won't be joining him for new My Kitchen Rules

He's gearing up for the return of his cooking show My Kitchen Rules in 2022.

But Manu Feildel took time out on Saturday to attend the premiere of Sing 2 with his family.

The celebrity chef, 47, was joined on the red carpet by wife Clarissa Weerasena and the couple's six-year-old daughter Charlee.

Charlee was joined by a friend for the premiere of the kids' musical.

Channel 7 star Manu went casual for the outing, wearing jeans and a dark jacket over a white v-neck T-shirt.

He went incognito beneath a Deus Ex Machina cap.

His wife of three years meanwhile wore jeans with an elaborately patterned blouse and a tan jacket.

The outing comes ahead of Manu's return to the judging seat in My Kitchen Rules in 2022.

But he admits he is 'sad' to no longer be working with controversial ousted co-star, Pete Evans, 48.

The French-Australian chef told The Daily Telegraph on Saturday: 'I am a little sad I suppose. Pete and I are great mates and nothing has changed there.'

'We have worked together for a very long time and I love the guy. The fact he won't be sitting next to me is not my choice.'

Manu went on to say that he does not know who will star on the show alongside him, but some big names are in the mix.

'I am not sure yet who will be joining me. There have been some international names floating around,' he said.

In May 2020 it was announced that Pete had parted ways with Channel Seven after 10 years as a judge on MKR alongside Manu.

The decision to release Pete from his $800,000 contract was reportedly a cost-cutting measure, according to The Australian.

As the coronavirus recession hits the TV industry, Seven has been dropping its most expensive assets and Pete was said to be 'the lowest-hanging fruit'.

The former restaurateur, who believes Covid is a scam and that vaccines are harmful, lost dozens of sponsorships last year after sharing neo-Nazi content on Facebook.

Pete was kicked off Facebook for sharing misinformation in December last year.

He also copped heavy fines from Australia's medical watchdog over the alleged unlawful advertising of therapeutic goods.

In April 2020, the controversial chef was fined $25,000 for trying to sell his so-called BioCharger for $15,000 a pop on Facebook.

In May 2021, he was hit with another $79,920 in fines for advertising the BioCharger and several other unapproved and totally ineffective treatments.

At Channel Seven's 2022 Upfront presentation in October, the most shocking announcement was that MKR would be revived - but with one big difference.

The show will have 'all new judges,' according to Seven - however it's now been confirmed  that Manu will return.

The cooking show was previously hosted by Evans, Feildel and Colin Fassnidge.

MKR had once been a ratings juggernaut for Seven, but its popularity nosedived in recent years as viewers flocked to Channel Nine's Married At First Sight instead.
