CHIKKAMAGALUR: Fifty-nine students and 10 teaching and non-teaching staff of a residential school run by the central government tested positive for
Covid-19 in Karnataka's Chikkamagalur.
All the students are asymptomatic.
Medical teams along with an ambulance sent to the school to provide medical care for all.
The school is located in the Narasimharajapura taluk of Chikkamagalur district.
The school is now sealed down and being sanitised. Senior officials of the health department rushed to the school and reviewed the situation.
As the school is a residential school, students are isolated in the hostel facility available in the school.
Chikkamagalur DC KN Ramesh informed that the swab samples were collected on Friday and Saturday after a school teacher tested positive.
"59 students and 10 others tested positive now. All are asymptomatic. Medical teams have been deputed to provide required medical care. An ambulance is also kept stand by if required. There is no need to panic," he explained.
"We collected 457 samples and tested," he said.
Chikkamagalur DHO Dr Umesh SN informed that testing of all students, teachers and the non-teaching staff was completed.
"All are asymptomatic. Students are isolated in the school facility. All the precautionary measures have been taken," he said.
