JAIPUR: As the cloud cover vanished from most of the districts in the state on Friday,
mercury took a dip and many places witnessed shivering winter chill. Mild showers in the past couple of days have been fruitful for the farmers who have sown Rabi crops.
Attributing the vanishing of the cloud cover to the active northerly winds and absence of factors like western disturbances and upper air cyclonic circulation, Jaipur
Met office stated that many places in the state will now witness shivering cold conditions in the next couple of days.
People in Jaipur got up to a comparatively chilly morning with a minimum temperature of 14.0 degrees Celsius. In the noon, a bright sunny day was witnessed while northerly winds brought nip in the air. "In the coming days, the mercury will further dip in the city as a minimum temperature of around 12.0 °C is likely to be recorded on Saturday," said a senior official at the Met department.
Meanwhile, mild showers in some parts of the state in the past two days have been welcomed by the farmers. "This rainfall is always seen in December and is good after sowing of crops like mustard. This will help plants grow," said a senior official at the agriculture department.
The majority of the state witnessed a bright sunny day, which paved a way for the northerly winds. "Northerly winds will further bring a dip in the minimum temperatures in the next couple of days. By Sunday, many places in the state are likely to get its minimum temperatures below 10.0 °C," said a senior official of Met office.
Fatehpur remained coldest in the state, where a minimum temperature of 5.8 °C was recorded and was followed by Churu, where a minimum temperature of 7.4 °C was recorded. Also, a minimum temperature varying from 10°C to 15.0 °C was recorded at many places in the state.
In its forecast, the
Jaipur Met office stated that shivering cold conditions will aggravate, especially in the
Shekhawati region, including Sikar,
Jhunjhunu and Churu districts of the state in the next 24 hours.
