Maruti Suzuki Registers 3% Production Drop In November 2021

Maruti Suzuki India has announced production figures for November 2021. According to a regulatory filing made at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the country's largest carmaker has informed that it manufactured 145,560 vehicles last month. Compared to 150,221 units produced in November 2020, the Indo-Japanese automaker has recorded a Year-on-Year (YoY) decline of 3 per cent. However, the company has registered an MoM growth of almost 8 per cent against 134,779 units produced in October 2021. The carmaker said, "The shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles during the month."

Production of mini hatchbacks like Alto and S-Presso stood at 19,810 units, which is a decline of 18.5 per cent compared to 24,336 units produced in the corresponding month last year. The compact segment with models like the WagonR, Swift, Dzire, Baleno, Ignis and others recorded a decline of 14.5 per cent at 74,283 units produced last month against 85,118 units manufactured in November 2020.

Production of the Ciaz mid-size sedan went up by 51.4 per cent at 2,453 units compared to 1,192 units manufactured a year ago. Moreover, production of utility vehicles such as Ertiga, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, and XL6 also went up by 43.9 per cent at 35,590 vehicles compared to 24,719 units made in the same month in 2020. In the same month, the company manufactured 9,889 units of the Eeco, down by 13.3 per cent against 11,212 units manufactured in November 2020. As for Light Commercial Vehicles, production of the Super Carry stood at 3535 units which is a drop of 3 per cent compared to 3644 units assembled a year ago.

Production of UVs stood at 35,590 units, which is a growth of 43.9 per cent

In terms of sales, the carmaker sold 139,184 units in November 2021 recording a year-on-year decline of over 9 per cent against 153,223 units sold during the same month last year. Compared to 138,335 vehicles sold in October 2021, Maruti Suzuki witnessed a marginal growth of less than 1 per cent month-on-month. Moreover, the company will be increasing the prices of its cars from January 2022. However, it has not yet announced the quantum of the price hike.
