Adilabad: Secretary-General Somesh Kumar instructed the district authorities to draw up an action plan and to reach the target set for the administration of vaccines against Covid-19 by 22 December.
The general secretary held a review meeting here on Friday about the ongoing vaccination campaign with district collectors, additional collectors and health authorities and medical department of the then Adilabad district. Syed Ali Murtuza Rizvi, general secretary of health and medical department, and secretary Srinivas Rao were also present.
Somesh Kumar addressed the authorities of the four districts and ordered them to appoint nodal officers for each village, mandal, primary health center and mandal and to make the vaccination campaign a success. He also asked them to appoint officials to carry out the vaccination in urban areas by motivating the public to undergo the vaccine.
The general secretary further instructed the collectors of the districts of Adilabad, Mancherial, Kumram Bheem Asifabad and Nirmal to tour through rural and urban areas to ensure effective implementation of the ride. He said about 17.6 lakh people had yet to undergo the vaccination in the former Adilabad district and set a December 22 deadline to reach the target.
The senior IAS official advised the authorities to reach the target before the distribution of the Omicron, the latest variant of Covid-19. He asked them to share the target every day.
Murtuza Rizvi stressed the need to speed up the vaccination campaign in the then Adilabad district. He told the Collectors to take steps to form teams and to administer the vaccine. He asked them to make the activity widely known and to cover the citizens. He said the Mancherial district was ahead in vaccination by reaching 95 percent of the target of the first dose and 39 percent of the second dose followed by Nirmal who saw 83 percent of the first dose and 33 percent of the second dose.
Collectors Sikta Patnaik, Musharraf Ali Faruqui, Bharati Hollikeri and Rahul Raj described the steps being taken to limit the spread of the virus and to achieve vaccination targets in their respective districts. They said special officers have been delegated to carry out the vaccination campaign and special measures are being taken to create awareness among the public.
