Ukhrul, December 02 2021: KLASA FC on Thursday defeated TRAU FC 4-2 in a penalty shootout in a hard-fought semifinal after the match ended in a tied score.
With this win, KLASA FC will be facing off with Shillong Lajong FC in the final showdown of the 29th Shirui Lily Cup 2021 tournament.
Both KLASA FC and TRAU FC had to face a tie-breaker as the contesting teams were tied at 0-0 at the end of the 90- minute match here at TNL Ground in Ukhrul town.
Blame it on luck, star-crossed TRAU FC lost two decisive kicks in the shootout.
In contrast, KLASA FC didn't miss out on any of the four crucial kicks to proceed straight into the final match to clash with Shillong Lajong FC on December 4 .
KLASA FC had Yohen Singh (Jersey No 12), Lien (Jersey No 18), Morris (Jersey No 10) and Jim (Jersey No 3) for the shootout.
Each of them manoeuvred the ball to find the net, scoring four scores out of four kicks.
For the TRAU FC, it was a nerve-wrecking and humiliating moment in front of their fans as Timothy (Jersey No 12) opened the penalties kicking the ball way too high above the crossbar.
Though TRAU FC's Naresh Singh (Jersey No 5) and Gogoi (Jersey No 2) each managed to slip one past the goalie in their respective turns, another huge miss came from Baja (Jersey No 16) whose kick was repelled by the KLASA FC's keeper hands down.
