NEW DELHI: Foreign secretary Harsh Shringla held talks on Wednesday with EU special envoy for Afghanistan Tomas Niklasson on the Afghanistan situation. Official sources said India and EU were on the same page on Afghanistan with both sides looking to provide humanitarian assistance to the war-ravaged country.
MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said the two sides agreed to continue the ongoing coordination between India and the European Union on Afghanistan. EU is currently said to be considering facilitating payment for teachers and other essential service providers to ensure education isn’t affected by the crisis that is unfolding in Afghanistan
Niklasson is on a visit to India after holding talks in Doha with a Taliban delegation led by acting foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. Separately, Shringla also interacted with US senior director in White House National Security Council Sumona Guha.
