Nagpur: Only three districts in Vidarbha — Nagpur, Chandrapur and Yavatmal — reported new Covid cases accounting for all nine patients on Monday. Overall testing was poor across the region, but it was abysmally low in the eight districts which did not report any new cases.
Wardha, with just five, was the worst performer as far as testing was concerned. Bhandara, Akola, Buldhana and Washim were the other districts where testing was below 100-mark.
The Covid testing figures in the region crashed by more than half to little over 3,000. Sunday being a holiday, sample collection centres were closed, though the state Covid Task Force has called for increased testing to ensure the situation doesn’t go out of hand all of a sudden. Another reason for low testing was that some of these districts haven’t reported any new case for the last couple of days. Hence, there are few close or high-risk contacts left to be tested.
The day also saw 18 recoveries in Vidarbha, leaving 121 patients under treatment.
In Nagpur district, of the five new cases, two were from rural, one from city and two from outside district. The district has 43 patients under treatment now.
Yavatmal: No deaths kept the toll unchanged at 1,787. Currently, there are 13 active positive patients under treatment. The administration received 111 reports of which one was found positive. Of the 72,937 positive patients, 71,137, including one on Monday, have recovered. The test positivity rate is 9.53 %, death rate 2.45 % and daily positivity rate 0.90 %. There are 1,759 beds available for Covid patients in hospitals across the district.
Wardha: Five patients were discharged after recovery, leaving active positive just two as no new positive case was reported from 5 reports of Monday. Total recoveries increased to 48,094 and total cases and toll remained unchanged at 4,9426 and 1,326 respectively.
Amravati: No new case, no recovery and no Covid death marked Monday. This left 15 active cases under treatment.
Chandrapur: With four recoveries as against just a solitary detection, the figure of active patients further climbed down to 11 on Monday. The day again remained casualty free. There were 193 tests conducted during the last 24 hours and only one patient was found positive. A total of 7,61,931 samples have been tested out of which 6,71,501 tested negative. The caseload has moved up to 88,852, including 87,298 recoveries and 1,543 deaths.
Washim: The district did not report any new Covid case or recovery on Monday. Thus, the patient tally remains at 4. The district conducted 78 tests in the day. No death took place on Monday.
Gondia: No new Covid case was reported despite testing 293 samples. No discharge or Covid death took place, while seven patients remained under treatment.
Bhandara: The district neither reported any new Covid case, nor discharge on Monday. Two patients are under treatment. Only 16 samples were tested in the district on Monday.
Akola: The district reported zero new cases and recoveries on Monday, keeping the number of under-treatment patients at 10 after conducting 56 tests.
Gadchiroli: The district reported no new Covid cases on Monday after 258 tests, but saw one patient recovering. It now has 4 patients under treatment.
