LIVE News Updates: Members of AIMC, women's wing of Congress, protest against inflation, rising fuel prices

ANI reported that Opposition leaders are protesting at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Parliament premises over suspension of 12 MPs. The Opposition MPs staged a walkout from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha after Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu rejected revocation of the suspension of 12 Opposition MPs.

ANI reported that the Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 2pm after Congress, DMK and National Conference staged a walkout.

ANI quoted Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu as saying, "The bitter experience of the last Monsoon Session still continues to haunt most of us. I was expecting & waiting for the leading lights of the House to take lead in expressing outrage over what happened in the last Session."

ANI reported that the opposition parties are going to meet Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu over the suspension of 12 Rajya Sabha MPs for the remaining part of the current session.

ANI reported that Leaders of Opposition parties met at LoP Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge's office at the Parliament to discuss future strategy after suspension of 12 Rajya Sabha MPs for the remaining part of the Winter session. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was also present in the meeting.

ANI quoted LoP in RS, Mallikarjun Kharge, as saying that the opposition parties are meeting today to discuss the future course of action. "The question of offering an apology doesn't arise. MPs were suspended against rules of the House. This action is like strangulating the voice of opposition," said Kharge.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India reported 6,990 new Covid cases, 190 deaths & 10,116 recoveries in the last 24 hours, reported ANI. This takes the active caseload to 1,00,543, while the total vaccination stands at 1,23,25,02,767.

ANI reported that Congress MP Manish Tewari gave an adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha on the issue -'to direct the government to create a record of farmers who lost their lives during farm laws protest and give compensation to their families'. It added that Congress MP Manickam Tagore also gave an adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha 'to discuss reasons for the increase in prices of essential commodities across the country & to direct the Govt to take appropriate steps to reduce the Excise duty on petrol, diesel, LPG to the level of 2013'.

A bill on regulation of reproductive technology will be tabled in the Lok Sabha today, reported ANI.
