AIMS writes to PM proposing alternative Asian Highway

Imphal, November 29 2021: A letter has been written to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi through Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul District Manipur proposing for construction of an alternative Asian Highway between Kuirei via Khamasom Phungdhar, Ukhrul district to Homalin, Myanmar.
The letter has been written by the Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS), Manipur and Awungshi Philip Soso, Social worker from Khamasom Phungdhar, Ukhrul district.
The letter mentioned that inorder to enhance the vision of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's Act East Policy, it is pertinent to construct a highway between Kuirei via Khamasom Phungdhar to Homalin since it will be the nearest riverport of Myanmar from the states of North East India including Nagaland, Manipur, Assam, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.
The letter also maintained that as an extended vision of the Act East policy, the nearest riverport will be more economically feasible to conduct Indo-Myanmar trade relations.
