Imphal, November 29 2021: The Deans' Committee of Manipur University (MU) has decided to cancel the entrance test for admission to BEd held on Sunday and the same entrance test will be conducted afresh within 15 days.
The development comes after the Deans' Committee considered the memorandum submitted by MUSU as well as reports carried by local dailies in connection with leakage of question paper for the entrance test.
After the leaked question paper for the entrance test went viral on social media and local dailies reported about the matter, the Deans' Committee held a meet Monday and discussed in depth about the matter.
Upon identifying some prima facie evidence of the question being leaked, the committee decided to cancel the entrance test and conduct the same afresh within 15 days, MU registrar in-charge David K Zote said in a statement issued Monday.
The committee also resolved that a one man fact finding committee will be constituted to enquire into the matter and submit the findings within three weeks' time, the statement said adding a complaint has been lodged at SP Imphal West to take necessary action on leakage of the question paper.
Meanwhile, MUSU president Maibam Maikel told media persons that a team of MUSU enquired about the leakage of question paper for BEd entrance test at the department concerned and a memorandum in this regard has been submitted to the vice chancellor.
MUSU has also intimated authority concerned not to declare result of the entrance test, Maibam Maikel said adding that the memorandum submitted to VC asked the MU authority to constitute an enquiry committee within 24 hours and conduct fresh entrance test if the leakage of question paper happens to be true and take punitive action against those involved.
