Emilia Jones Takes Breakthrough Performer Prize for 'CODA' at Gotham Awards 2021, Marlee Matlin & More Join Her on Carpet

Emilia Jones has a big career ahead of her!

The 19-year-old actress took home the award for Breakthrough Performer at the 2021 Gotham Awards on Monday night (November 29) at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.

Emilia won the award for her work in the movie CODA, which is now streaming on Apple TV+. She was joined on the red carpet by her co-stars Marlee Matlin and Troy Kotsur, who are both nominated for Outstanding Supporting Performance, and director Sian Heder.

Previous recipients of the Breakthrough Performer award include Timothee Chalamet, Michael B. Jordan, Anya Taylor-Joy, Felicity Jones, and Tessa Thompson.

In CODA, Ruby (Jones) is the only hearing person in her home as a child of deaf adults. When she discovers a passion for singing, Ruby must choose between family obligations and her dreams. The film was both the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award winner at the Sundance Film Festival.
