ABBPP&SLTD(up 9.44%), DPSC(up 8.51%), Indowind Energy(up 4.94%), Jyoti Structures(up 4.87%), Orient Green Power Company(up 4.86%), Suzlon Energy(up 3.79%), PTC India(up 3.36%), Torrent Power(up 3.30%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 3.25%) and NHPC(up 2.64%) stood among the top gainers.
Adani Transmissions(down 5.00%), Energy Development Company(down 4.83%), Indo Tech Transformers(down 4.58%), NTL(down 4.55%), ADANIGREEN(down 4.24%), NLC India(down 2.97%), KEC International(down 1.77%), RTNPOWER(down 1.41%), JSW Energy(down 1.02%) and Gujarat Industries Power(down 0.86%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 70.75 points down at 16983.2, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 195.71 points at 57064.87.
Power Grid Corporation of India(up 3.25%), Titan Company Ltd(up 2.21%), SBI Life(up 2.14%), Shree Cement(up 2.1%), Bajaj Finserv(up 2.05%), TATA CONSUMER PRODUCTS(up 1.64%), Bajaj Finance(up 1.32%), Wipro(up 1.05%), Infosys(up 0.96%) and Nestle India(up 0.8%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Tata Steel(down 3.91%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 2.86%), JSW Steel(down 2.75%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 2.67%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.8%), Eicher Motors(down 1.78%), Hindalco Industries(down 1.76%), Bajaj Auto(down 1.76%), Hero MotoCorp(down 1.67%) and HDFC(down 1.5%) closed in the red.
