It’s the time of policewalas at the box office in India. Earlier this month, Akshay Kumar ensured a dhamaka in theatres on Diwali with Sooryavanshi. He arrived on the big screen as DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, the chief of the Anti-Terrorism Squad, and created a storm at the box office. Now, Salman Khan’s Antim: The Final Truth is going strong at the box office, proving that cops are here to reign.
AKSHAY KUMAR'S COP FILM, SOORVAYANSHI, REVIVES CINEMAS
When director Rohit Shetty decided to release Sooryavanshi in theatres, following a long closure of cinemas due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, people warned him about the risk. But, he was adamant. Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi hit the theatres on November 5 and proved to be a crowd puller. This is the fourth film in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe which started with Ajay Devgn’s Singham in 2011 and was followed by Singham Returns in 2014 and the Ranveer Singh-starrer Simmba in 2018.
Sooryavanshi, which featured cameos by Ajay and Ranveer, earned a total of Rs 120.66 crore in the first week. Katrina Kaif played the female lead in the film. The audience surely can’t get enough of the invincible cops on screen, who aren’t afraid to do everything to protect their country and deliver justice. Akshay did all of that and much more in Sooryavanshi.

SALMAN KHAN ONCE AGAIN WINS ALL AS A POLICEWALA IN ANTIM
Salman Khan’s Antim: The Final Truth collected Rs 17 crore in its first weekend. In this Mahesh Manjrekar directorial venture, the action superstar plays a Sikh cop, who goes up against a gangster named Rahuliya, played by Salman’s brother in law, Aayush Sharma.
Now, we can’t imagine any piece on cop movies without Salman’s Dabangg series. His character Chulbul Pandey was the perfect mix of courage and comedy. With Antim, he is back at his antics as the honest policewala Rajveer Singh, even though he has let Aayush take the charge in the latest film. Antim clashed with John Abraham-starrer Satyameva Jayate 2 at the box office, but emerged a clear winner. What can we say, cops are ruling the big screen. One of John’s triple roles in Satyameva Jayate 2 is that of a cop too.
While 2021 has given us unforgettable on-screen cops such as Akshay Kumar’s Veer Sooryavanshi and Salman Khan’s Rajveer Singh, here’s saluting the real heroes too!
