Uttar Pradesh: Five killed in accident on Prayagraj-Lucknow highway

PRAYAGRAJ: As many as five persons, including four of a family, were killed in a road accident when two motorcycles carrying them were hit by a speeding truck near Lalgopalganj toll road on Prayagraj-Lucknow highway under the limits of Nawabganj police station in trans-Ganga area late on Sunday night.
The incident, as per police, took place when a group of five persons, including a minor, were returning to Budauna village from Hathgawon of Pratapgarh after attending a marriage function.
The deceased, identified as Ram Sharam Pal (65), Lallu Pal (45), Samay Lal (35), Arjun Pal(14) and Ram Chander Pal alias Uthahara, were all residents of Budauna village.
Four of them died on the spot while another succumbed to injuries during treatment on Monday morning.
Upon being alerted about the accident on Sunday midnight, a team of Nawabganj police rushed to the spot and took all the five persons to a nearby health centre.
Nawabganj police have recovered both the bikes from the spot. An FIR has been lodged in this connection and bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
