Covid positive cases rise by 35, death toll by one

Imphal, November 28 2021: The State registered 35 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 1,25,152, while the active cases stand at 685, according to the data updated by Covid Common Control Room on Sunday.
The fresh cases which include six CAPF personnel were confirmed at RIMS (3), JNIMS (8) and other testing centres (24) .
The latest single day positivity rate updated by the bulletin was 2.5 percent as 1,424 samples were tested in the period (last 24 hours).
District wise, Imphal West reported the highest positivity rate at 5.2 percent as 28 of the 258 samples tested positive and it is followed by Churachandpur (2.4 percent ); Kakching (2.2 percent); Bishnupur (1 percent); Imphal East (0.8 percent) and Thoubal (0.8 percent) .
The positive cases from the general population are from Imphal East (2), Imphal West 22, Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (1) and Churachandpur (2) .
In the same period, at least one Covid death was reported from Imphal East.
The deceased was not vaccinated.
With this, the death toll has mounted to 1,971.Pherzawl is the only district which has not reported any Covid death while it is Imphal West which has the most Covid deaths (658) .
Today, another 22 persons were discharged from Home Isolation (8), JNIMS (4) and CCCs (10) .
The recovery rate stands at 98.88 percent.
Meanwhile, the State distributed 488 D-type and 106 B-type oxygen cylinders to different health facilities and administered 6,187 Covid vaccine doses yesterday.
Altogether 2138853 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the State till yesterday, according to the control room.
This figure indicates that 54.57 percent of the State's population has received the first doses while 36.79 percent has fully been vaccinated.
