'15 NH projects sanctioned for state'

Imphal, November 27 2021: Informing that 15 National Highway projects are being sanctioned for the state, Mani-pur Governor La Ganesan said that the highways are needed to protect the state boundaries.
He was speaking during an interaction session with District Level Officers of Imphal West and Imphal East at Manipur University centenary hall on Saturday.
Interacting with the DLOs, La Ganesan expressed his appreciation to the District Commissioners of both Imphal West and East for the execution of developmental works taken up by the government for the welfare of the public which was shown through power point presentation.
It is unfortunate that the pandemic slowed down the developmental works considerably, he added.
Regarding the failure of ensuring cent per cent Covid-19 vaccination in both the two dis -tricts, he encouraged the DLOs to be cautious and work harder to eliminate the pandemic completely as it will hinder in developmental activities.
Moreover, open defecation should be eliminated in the state.
Directing the DLOs to encourage the public of both districts to open bank accounts under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, he pointed out that the scheme aims to revolutionize the traditional banking system of India and is suitable for everyone, especially for the economically weaker section of the society who does not have bank account.
It offers basic financial services like saving account, insurance, deposit account, pension remittance, etc.
Anyone who is an Indian citizen and is above 10 years of age can open an account with zero balance under the scheme, he pointed out.
The governor further stated that India is the largest democracy which is governed by constitution and it is unfortunate that some sections of the society are working against it.
He noted that in every district he visited, contraband products seized by the security forces were shown to him.
Apart from the DLOs, the interaction programme was attended by MU Vice Chancellor Professor L Lokendro Singh, boxer L Sarita Devi, Kangla Mei president Ema Y Leirikleima along with staff of deputy commissioners of the two districts.
