Man held for intruding into VIP motorcade

Imphal, November 27 2021: The Duty Magistrate, Imphal West has on Saturday remanded one Thokchom Gyanendra (26) to three days police custody for allegedly intruding into the motorcade of BJP National president JP Nadda and Chief MinisterN Biren Singh yesterday.
The accused also possessed one .32 licensed gun with eight live rounds of bullet at the time of intrusion.
Accused Thokchom Gyanendra s/o Munindro of Heirangoithong Awang Maibam Leikai was produced before the Duty Magistrate by a team of Singjamei police, today.
The 10 of the case submitted that the accused, in one white Tata Safari, intruded into the VIP motorcade at Sangaiporou Lamkhai along the Tiddim road and started driving in a suspicious manner.
Saying that one of the escorts signalled the security personnel deployed on the road stretch to separate the said Safari from the motorcade, the IO maintained that vehicle, however, obstruct-ed the security personnel from discharging their duty and followed the motorcade upto the gate of 165 TA Airport Battalion.
The Tata Safari which the accused drove was reportedly separated near the gate of 165 TA Airport Battalion but he refused to come out of the vehicle when the police asked, said the IO.
Saying that the accused came out only when the SP Imphal West directed him to, the IO claimed that the accused, however, responded to the police pompously and even tried to assault the SP.
On spot verification, the accused identified himself as Thokchom Gyanendra and from his possession one .32 revolver along with 8 live rounds of bullet and one arms license were seized.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of the IO remanded the accused to three days police custody till November 29 .
