Imphal, November 26 2021: 109 BN CRPF of IGP Manipur and Nagaland sector conducted a civic action programme on Friday and distributed 65 solar lanterns to villagers of Taphou Phyamai under Senapati district.

In a release, 109 Bn deputy commandant Parvinder Kaur informed that the solar lanterns are being distributed to marginalised section of society with special emphasis to villages yet to have electric connection.

Commandant-109 Bn CRPF Balkrishna Ram attended the event as chief guest and village headman Dr V Alexander Pao, who is also a former MLA, was guest of honour while 33 AR major YK Singh, Senapati additional SP (L&O) Tholu Rocky, 109 Bn assistant commandants Alex Kophom and A Visapunii and other dignitaries of local administration as presidium members.

A cultural programme was also organised as part of the programme.

In his speech, commandant Balkrishnan thanked Dr Alexander Pao for giving the opportunity to serve the people of Senapati and conveyed gratitude to the gathering for extending CRPF the chance to light up dark, gloomy homes of the hoi polloi by distributing solar lanterns.
