Tamil Nadu identifies 1.01 lakh more pensioners

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government has identified 1.01 lakh more eligible people for the social security pension of Rs 1,000 every month.
Chief minister M K Stalin on Thursday gave away the pension orders to 10 beneficiaries as a token gesture at a function in the secretariat.
The government has been extending pension to 33.31 lakh pensioners so far and it has allocated Rs 4,807.56 crore towards the schemes for this fiscal year, said an official release.
The beneficiaries have been identified for nine pension schemes, including Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension , Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension, National Widow Pension, Differently-Abled Pension, Destitute Widow Pension, Chief Minister’s Uzhavar Pathukappu Thittam, Destitute/Deserted Wives Pension, Unmarried Women Pension and Sri Lankan Refugees’ Pension .
The Union government shares funding for the three national pension schemes, while the rest are fully funded by the state government following guidelines.
