EICMA 2021: Honda 350 ADV Scooter Revealed
Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Honda has revealed the ADV 350 scooter at EICMA 2021. The ADV 350 is the third adventure scooter from Honda after the X-ADV and the ADV150.
The Honda ADV 350 is powered by a 330cc single overhead cam, four single cylinder engine that produces 28.8bhp at 7,500 rpm and 31.1Nm of peak torque at 5,250rpm. The liquid-cooled and fuel injected engine is mated to a CVT gearbox and provides a mileage of 29.4km/l. The Honda ADV 350 has an 11.5-litre fuel tank. This gives the Honda ADV 350 a maximum range of 338 kilometres on a single tank of petrol.
The Honda ADV 350 features a steel underbone frame with a 37mm upside-down fork up front with 125mm of travel. The adventure scooter sports dual shock absorbers at the rear which provide 130mm of travel and are paired with a one-piece aluminium swingarm.
Stopping power for the ADV 350 scooter is provided by disc brakes on both the front and rear. The front disc brake is a 330mm Nissin unit with two-piston callipers. The rear brake is also a Nissin disc that measures 256mm in diameter and sports a single-piston calliper. The brakes are assisted by dual-channel ABS.
The Honda ADV 350 sits on new cast aluminium wheels that feature a unique multi-spoke design. The front wheel is 15 inches in diameter while the rear is smaller at 14-inches. The front tyre is clad in 120/70-15 tyre while the rear is a 140/70-14 unit.
The Honda ADV 350 has a ground clearance of 145mm while its wheelbase measures 1519mm long. The seat of the ADV 350 sits 795mm above the ground and the adventure scooter weighs in at 185 kilogrammes (kerb weight). The under seat storage area can hold two full-sized helmets and has a total capacity of 48-litres.
In terms of design, the Honda ADV sports a very sculpted look that is familiar to the ones seen on larger maxi-scooters sold in Europe.
The front end features sleek dual headlamps which are dwarfed by the large LED daytime running lights. The large windshield of the ADV 350 has an adjustment range of over 127mm (5 inches) and can be locked into four pre-set positions. The adventure scooter also provides knuckle guards for the rider.
The Honda ADV sports a split seat design and narrow tail section. The adventure scooter also features split grab handles for the pillion rider and a very distinct looking LED taillight.
The Honda ADV 350 sports a LCD instrument cluster that features a clock, two trip meters, fuel consumption gauge, tachometer and a speedometer along with an indicator for Honda's Smart Key. The Smart Key can control the scooter's main ignition switch knob and seat lock while still in the rider's pocket. The smart key can also open the optional top box which can hold two helmets.
Thoughts On The Honda ADV 350
The Honda ADV 350 is the latest adventure scooter from the Japanese marque. It promises to handle everyday roads and some rough stuff which should make it the perfect scooter for Indian conditions. However, it seems very unlikely that Honda will bring this adventurous little scooter to India.
