Mansfield man headed back to prison for rape conviction

ASHLAND - A man released from prison three weeks ago is headed back after pleading guilty to another sex crime that occurred more than two decades ago.

Jeremiah D. Connolly, 45, of Mansfield, was sentenced Nov. 8 to 10 to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of rape.

Four other rape charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement, according to Ashland County Common Pleas records.

Connolly sexual assaulted a minor under the age of 13 on Christmas Day in 1995. Ashland City Police Department investigated the case, leading to the charge being filed in February.

After completing his sentence, Connolly will be a Tier 3 sex offender and register his address with authorities every 90 days for life.

As of Tuesday, Connolly was being held in the Ashland County Jail awaiting transportation to the Lorain Correctional Institution.

Connolly was sent to the Grafton prison in 2013 for a sexual battery conviction, court record show. He served eight years in prison.
