NHL star Connor McDavid, 24, has left fans baffled after opening up the doors to his enormous - and completely colorless - mansion in Alberta, Canada. 

The hockey player, who is the captain of the Edmonton Oilers, lives in a three-story house with his girlfriend, Lauren Kyle, 24, and the couple recently showed off the luxurious home, which is filled with lavish amenities like an at-home gym, wine cellar, and a couch that can seat up to 30 people, in a video for Architectural Digest.

But what has really caught viewers' attention is the lack of color throughout the mansion, with some questioning how the couple manages to relax while living in a home that has 'no personality' - and would likely show up every single crumb of food that might be dropped.  

'After seeing Connor McDavid's house I no longer wish to be rich if it means living in a monochromatic home with no personality,' one person wrote on Twitter. 'How the hell am I supposed to eat pizza rolls in that house?'

The couple recently showed off the luxurious home, which is filled with lavish amenities like an at home gym, wine cellar, and a couch that can seat up to 30 people, to Architectural Digest

But what has really caught fans' attention is the lack of color throughout the mansion, and many of them took to Twitter to share their thoughts

Another Twitter user added, 'What did colors do to offend these two?' 

'McDavid's house is cool in like a hedge fund billionaire who is secretly a serial killer kind of way,' a third person joked. 

'Sorry to Connor McDavid but his house looks like it was built in [the game] Minecraft,' someone else tweeted.

One final message read, 'Hope to god Connor McDavid [and] his gf stay together forever ['cause if] they break up somebody's gonna have to live alone in that house.' 

Lauren and Connor told the outlet that they started house hunting in 2017, after Connor signed a nine-figure, eight-year contract with the Oilers, estimated to be worth close to $100,000. 

According to Forbes, the contract earned the Edmonton Oilers player the title of highest-paid player in the NHL, with the outlet reporting that he will earn a staggering $16.4 million for the 2021-2022 season alone. 

But when they couldn't find one that lived up to their expectations, they decided to have their dream home custom built for them.

And Lauren, who works as an interior designer and runs her own firm, actually helped pick out almost all of the furniture in the house. It took two years to complete but by 2019, they moved in. 

In the basement there is a 'plush lounge and bar area,' as well as a home gym and a wine cellar.

There is also a basketball half court - where Connor spends most of his time roller-blading and practicing his hockey.  

The house is perfect for hosting guests, which was very important to the couple.

'Connor being the captain, we knew we were going to have to host a lot,' Lauren told the magazine. 'This house feels like it’s definitely an entertainer’s home.' 

Connor added, 'I think our house has kind of become the designated team party house.'  

Lauren described the color-less house as 'very sleek' and 'contemporary.'

'It’s a very sleek-looking house, with a lot of clean lines,' she said. 'There’s not a ton of ornate detail.

'It’s very contemporary and at the same time has a little bit of traditional influence. We wanted to take the clean, streamlined flat black of the exterior architecture and bring that inside.'

Connor explained, 'It’s a long cold winter here, so any chance you get to be outside, it certainly helps.'

Some people defended the house online, after it started to receive backlash. One person wrote, 'Am I the only person who thinks McDavid's house looks nice?'

'Hot take: I actually think McDavid's house is pretty nice. Sue me,' another added.
