Former Puducherry MLA K Parasuraman dies while addressing at function

PUDUCHERRY: Former AIADMK MLA and advocate K Parasuraman died of a cardiac arrest while addressing at a function to felicitate a team of new office-bearers of the Puducherry Bar Association on Wednesday. He was 79.
Police said Parasuraman swooned while felicitating newly elected office-bearers at the function in the integrated court complex. He was rushed to Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and Postgraduate Institute where the doctor on duty proclaimed that he was brought dead. Initial inquiries revealed that the former MLA died of a massive cardiac arrest.
A host of leaders, including AIADMK (east) secretary A Anbalagan, condoled the death of the former MLA.
Parasuraman was elected on AIADMK ticket from Orleanpet constituency in the town in 1991 assembly polls and completed his five-year term. He joined the AIADMK when late Tamil Nadu chief minister M G Ramachandran floated the party. He remained loyal to MGR and late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
He served in various capacities in the party. He was the president of state MGR youth wing, secretary of AIADMK advocates' wing and joint secretary of the party. He was a member of the Elders' Commission, a body to take decisions whenever the bar association was dissolved.
He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
