    Sensex falls! But these stocks surged over 5% on BSE

    NEW DELHI: A number of stocks surged as much as 5% or more in Wednesday's trade as Dalal Street closed lower for the day.

    Equity benchmark Sensex ended the session down 323.34 points at 58340.99.

    The top gainers included Axita Cotton(up 10.0%), Jeevan Scientific(up 10.0%), Dhanlaxmi Fab(up 10.0%), Atishay (up 10.0%), Parsvnath Dev.(up 9.99%), SBC Exports(up 9.97%), Suryaamba Spin(up 9.97%), Ashirwad Steels(up 9.97%), Rasi Electrodes(up 9.96%) and Manaksia Steels(up 9.92%) which surged over 5% in today's trade.

    In the Nifty 50 index, stocks such as Adani Ports SEZ(up 4.63%), ONGC(up 4.60%), Coal India Ltd(up 1.86%), BPCL(up 1.45%) and Kotak Bank(up 1.44%) were among the top gainers.

    The Nifty 50 index ended 88.3 points down at 17415.05.

    Among the 50 components in the Nifty index, 17 shares ended in the green, while 32 closed in the red.
