Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar has instructed Saifabad police to prosecute on November 23 against anyone involved in the vandalism of the mayor’s chamber in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

“Some thugs and hooligans from BJP in Hyderabad vandalized the GHMC office yesterday. I strongly condemn this heinous behavior. Guess it’s too much to ask God’s Bhakts to act in a Gandhian way Request @CPHydCity to take the strictest action against the vandals according to law, “KTR wrote in a tweet earlier.
Elected corporals and activists of the Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) stormed into the GHMC office on Tuesday, demanding that money be released to the municipal body of the state government.
Slogans of ‘KCR down down’ and ‘KTR down down’ resounded inside the GHMC office building. Posters of ‘Mayor Hatao, GHMC Bachao’ (remove the mayor and save the GHMC), ‘What happened to KCR’s Dallas plan?’ was pasted in front of the Mayor’s Chamber.
The protesting BJP workers also destroyed flower pots and utilities. The police had to be called in to prevent further escalation and to get the situation under control.
Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi condemns vandalism
Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, mayor of Hyderabad, in a press conference on Tuesday strongly condemned the protest by BJP corporations and activists in her room.
“This act by the BJP corporations is horrible. In a democracy, there are peaceful methods of solving problems, but our corporations have destroyed the property of the GHMC. This is completely wrong. If vandalism helps your purpose, you are welcome to do so. but it does not work that way, ”the mayor said.
“I want to ask these corporations: Did you destroy the property of the mayor or the public? These corporations need to reconsider their behavior. “Such incidents will lead to a loss of people’s faith in the democratic system and in elected representatives,” she added.
