Brits faced Christmas holiday circumstances with passport

This Christmas Brits faced holiday mayhem after the passport office’s courier service admits there can be delivery issues. Winter getaways can be at stake after a flood in post-COVID applications and receiving late travel documents. Applicants are already cautioned about facing waits of up to 10 weeks for their new passports to be processed.

Even after passports were given the green light by civil servants, many people faced further delays in receiving them. Few desperate punters have driven from depot to depot to try and search their documents after booking flights Abroad. The issue created frustration among hundreds of customers who are setting up a petition calling for a probe into the issue.

Thousands of them experienced important delays in getting their passports delivered in a few months. Many had to cancel their travel plans and lost hundreds or thousands of pounds. Unlike other couriers, TNT doesn’t seem to provide real-time tracking, not even provide delivery instructions.

People experienced failed delivery attempts. The petition requests the govt. to keep a watch on the deal and ask why the firm’s apparent failures have not been looked into. TNT owned by FedEx awarded a contract of three years worth $77 million to supply new and renewed passports in 2019. Passport Office is alternatively turning into postal companies such as Royal Mail. A TNT spokesman said they are taking additional steps to provide timely delivery by adding additional resources to the operations. They apologize for the inconvenience caused anyhow.
