Mangaluru: A journalist of a Kannada news channel was injured grievously after he was assaulted by an advocate in the city on Monday. Sukhpal Polali, a reporter of Public TV, was injured after he was allegedly assaulted by advocate Yadunandan. Mangaluru city police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said the accused was arrested in a case registered at Urwa police station under IPC Section 307 in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, a counter case was also lodged under IPC Sections 324 and 341 against the journalist based on a complaint filed by the advocate, Kumar said. The reason for the assault is yet to be known. Polali is undergoing treatment in a private hospital here. Meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Association president Shrinivas Nayak Indaje has urged city police to take appropriate action against the accused who assaulted the journalist. A delegation of journalists submitted a memorandum to the police commissioner.
