Zampa returns for NSW in SCG one-dayer

NSW have opted to bat and named two debutants for their one-day clash with Victoria at the SCG, while Adam Zampa is making a long-awaited return for his home state.

Wicketkeeper Baxter Holt and legspinner Tanveer Sangha are both playing their first 50-over games for the hosts.

Zampa grew up in Shellharbour and started his domestic career with the Blues before accepting an offer to play for South Australia in 2013.

The star legspinner returned home for the 2020-21 season, shifting to Byron Bay, but scheduling clashes prevented the white-ball star from playing domestic cricket outside the BBL.

Zampa was one of Australia's best players in their Twenty20 World Cup triumph, grabbing 13 wickets at 12.07.

The 29-year-old returned to Sydney after the tournament in the UAE, meaning he did not need to quarantine.

NSW XI: Matthew Gilkes, Daniel Hughes, Moises Henriques, Kurtis Patterson (capt), Jack Edwards, Hayden Kerr, Daniel Sams, Baxter Holt, Chris Tremain, Tanveer Sangha, Adam Zampa.

Victoria XI: Sam Harper, Mackenzie Harvey, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Peter Handscomb (capt), Jonathan Merlo, James Seymour, Matt Short, James Pattinson, Sam Elliott, Todd Murphy, Brody Couch.
